Was a fun and a relaxing outing with the group on a wonderfully sunny evening at the Halfmoon lake. Thanks Bryan for rallying the group and organizing the event.
Our group gave two talks at the 239th Electrochemical Society Meeting (Summer 2021), which was a virtual event this year.
Luisa did an excellent job in presenting her past, ongoing and future research work for her dissertation committee today. Great work so far and lots of interesting work to look forward to. Keep it up, Luisa!
Xingze Dai, an undergraduate research student in our lab won the best poster presentation in his session at the Mechanical Engineering Undergraduate Research Symposium. Way to go Xingze!
Mike's application was awarded an "Honorable Mention" in the 2021 National Science Foundation (NSF) Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP) competition. Honorable mention is a BIG DEAL for a highly competitive application such as the NSF GRFP. Congrats, Mike!
Artwork from our recently published paper on wastewater nitrates transformation to value-added products was selected as front cover in ACS Sustainable Chemistry & Engineering (vol. 9, issue 10). Special thanks to Jeff Knudsen and Hillary Robinson from the Michigan creative team and the College of Eng. (COE) grants team -- Joanne Navarre and Richard Vanden Heuvel
Thanks to Iryna Zenyuk for inviting me and giving me an opportunity to give a departmental seminar at the Dept. of Chemical Engineering at the University of California, Irvine. I really enjoyed meeting and talking to faculty and students in the department.
Rohini attended the 2020, US Frontiers of Engineering Symposium, organized by the National Academy of Engineering. Too bad this event wasn't in-person, but the virtual experience was stellar via e-poster boards. Great speakers, good collection of session topics, and engaged breakout sessions with fellow participants made it a wonderful event all around.
Our lab is thrilled to be funded on 2 projects through the Carbon Neutrality Acceleration Program managed by the Graham Sustainability Institute at the University of Michigan. We look forward to working with all our collaborators on the respective projects
Luisa's paper that proposes and evaluates the feasibility of using photoelectrochemical devices for nutrient and energy recovery from wastewater nitrates just got published in ACS Sustainable Chemistry & Engineering. You can find the full paper here: https://pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/acssuschemeng.0c07935. Congrats Team!
